by: WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Hillsboro Police Officer Timothy CannonAn off-duty Hillsboro police officer shot a Washington County Sheriff's deputy during a domestic disturbance in Forest Grove Sunday evening.

The deputy was treated non-life-threatening injuries.

KOIN Local 6 News was the first to identify the officer as Timothy Cannon. He was arrested, treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and lodged in the Washington County Jail on attempted aggravated murder charges. Bail is set at $250,000, with $25,000 required for release.

Jail records give Cannon's age as 46. He is a 13-year veteran of the Hillsboro Police Department assigned to the Patrol Division. Cannon was awarded the life-saving award in November 2012.

Ten law enforcement officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after discharging their firearms during the incident. Five are from The Forest Grove Police Department, four from The Washington County Sheriff's Office, and one from is from the Hillsboro Police Department, who is nt Cannon. This is standard procedure in any officer involved shooting. The names of the officers were not immediately available.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, at about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, Forest Grove Police officers and Washington County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1000 block of 37th Avenue in the City of Forest Grove. The disturbance was between an off-duty Hillsboro Police officer and his wife.

Once Forest Grove officers and deputies were on scene, they attempted to contact the man. At some point during the incident, the officers and deputies entered the home. Shots were fired inside the home and one of the Sheriff's deputies sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was taken into custody and sustained non-life-threatening injures during the incident.

Both the suspect and the Sheriff's deputy were later treated and released at a local hospital.

The wife of the suspect and their six-year-old daughter were not harmed during the incident.

Some of the surrounding neighbors were evacuated during the incident. They have since returned to their homes.

Detectives from the Washington County Major Crimes Team are investigating the incident. Further details of the incident were not immediately released.
