Parr Lumber Company has appointed Jim D. Boyer president of the Hillsboro-based company and its subsidiaries.

Boyer, who was previously director of yard operations, assumed the role as president of Parr Lumber effective April 29. Since joining Parr Lumber in 1984, Boyer has served on several community boards and was inducted into the Ronald McDonald House Charities Hall of Fame in 2011.

Parr Lumber launched a search for a new president in late 2012.

“Jim has an impressive resume, evidencing the knowledge, experience and commitment necessary to lead the positive growth and further success of the Parr Company,” said current Chief Executive Officer David Hamill.

Hamill will remain as CEO through 2013 while assisting Boyer in his transition and developing business strategies. Hamill will continue as a member of the company’s board of directors.

Parr officials said the company is the 18th-largest building material supplier in the nation. It operates 32 facilities in Oregon, Washington and Arizona, including pro/retail building material yards, contractor-focused facilities and cabinet design centers.
