The Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Department and the Hillsboro School District have signed an agreement to collaborate on a 49-plot community garden at the former David Hill Elementary School site, 440 S.E. Oak St.

Construction began in late June, and the site is expected to open in early fall.

The David Hill site will be the first community garden partnership between Hillsboro Parks & Recreation and the school district, and is the fourth site in the community garden program.

Plots at the new garden are available for a fee to Hillsboro residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
