Dancers and singers of all ages are wanted for a musical production of “Young Frankenstein” and a youth production of “My Son Pinocchio Junior.”

“Young Frankenstein” auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on July 28, 29 and 30 at Theatre in the Grove, 2028 Pacific Ave. in Forest Grove.

The musical comes from funny-man Mel Brooks and features tunes like “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”

Each participant will do a cold reading from the script. Everyone is asked to prepare a one-minute Broadway-style song, and bring along sheet music or a CD for accompaniment. Appointments are not necessary.

All roles in the production are volunteer. Performances will be Oct. 18 through Nov. 3. For more information, contact or call 503-359-5349.

Younger thespians from grades first through 12th can audition for “My Son Pinocchio Junior” on July 29 and July 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hillsboro Nazarene Church, 1390 N.E. 21st Ave. Participants must arrive promptly at 6:30 p.m., stay the entire time and be ready to sing, dance and act.

Actors are encouraged to come prepared to sing 16 bars of a show tune song, and may bring backup music or sing a capella. There won’t be an accompanist.

The acting portion of the audition will include theater games and cold readings. Younger actors do not need to be proficient readers to audition or perform.

Rehearsals will begin in August and will run Monday through Thursday, with some Saturday rehearsals. Performances will be during the first two weekends of October at HART Theatre in Hillsboro. For more information, visit
