This weekend, Sept. 28-29, is the final weekend of this year’s Oregon Renaissance Festival — a celebration and re-creation of a 16th century European village — at the Washington County Fair Complex.

Over these final two days of the festival, visitors are invited to participate in “her Majesty’s costume contest.” It’s free to enter and there are prizes to be won.

Hosted by Gabby GaaGaa, the promoter to the Queen will be in search of the best costumes in the village.

To participate, sign up at the information booth just inside the front gate by 3:50 p.m.

There are two age groups for the contest: Adults, ages 16 and older; and children, ages 15 and younger.

The costume contest is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Royal Pavilion, and those who don’t have costumes can choose to stop by the Belrose Costume Shoppe at the festival grounds and rent a costume for the day.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the festival is open rain or shine.
