Hillsboro Police arrested a man along Tualatin Valley Highway for driving under the influence of intoxicants Dec. 8 after he collided with a patrol car belonging to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

Ironically, the deputy was working a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-sponsored DUII shift at the time of the incident.

At 1:27 a.m., the WCSO deputy was driving westbound on Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway when a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Alfredo Losoya, 25, from Gervais drove into his path one block west of Southwest 185th Avenue in Aloha.

Losoya pulled onto TV Highway from a parking lot. The deputy was unable to avoid the collision, which separated the Impala’s front bumper from the vehicle.

The patrol vehicle received minor damage to the right front bumper.

Deputies suspected that Losoya was under the influence of alcohol, and requested the Hillsboro Police Department to assist with the investigation.

The investigation revealed that Losoya had been drinking at a bar located at 18641 S.W. TV Highway prior to the crash.

The deputy received minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital. Losoya was not injured. Losoya was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 19.
