Greg Malinowski received a lot of good news earlier this month.

The incumbent Washington County Commissioner’s re-election bid got a boost when he was endorsed by not one but two former Oregon governors — Victor Atiyeh and Barbara Roberts.

Atiyeh is a Republican, while Roberts is a Democrat.Atiyeh served as governor from 1979-87, and resides in District 2 of Washington County, which is the district Malinowski represents.

Roberts served as governor from 1991-95. “Voters in Washington County have an opportunity to re-elect a leader who works for all of the people. He cares. That’s why I’m supporting Greg Malinowski,” said Roberts.

Malinowski faces a challenge from Bob Zahrowski in this year’s campaign.

“I thank Gov. Roberts and Gov. Atiyeh for their endorsement of my candidacy and for their leadership for Oregon. It’s an honor and a privilege to have such broad support for this campaign,” Malinowski said. “When I first joined the commission, I was told that the county didn’t have support systems for small business. I’ve made some inroads, but I’m running for re-election to ensure all voices in the county are heard.”

Malinowski and his brothers own 60 acres of farmland in Bethany.

He lives and works on the farm with his wife, Jonella.
