In case of severe weather, the city will have sandbags available at county fairgrounds.

Hillsboro city officials are asking the public to help cut down on roadway flooding by clearing neighborhood storm drains.

Residents can check storm drains for leaves, be sure gutters and downspouts are clear and keep yard debris away from drainage ditches and streams.

Flooding or downed trees can be reported to Hillsboro Public Works at 503-615-6509 during business hours, or 503-629-0111 after business hours.

A self-serve sandbag site, in the case of severe flooding, is open at the Washington County Fair Complex, 873 N.E. 34th Ave., near the tennis courts.

Sand and bags are provided; shovels are not.
