Komi Kalevor has been named the county's new head of housing services, effective immediately, according to a statement released by Washington County on Tuesday.
Kalevor replaces Jill Smith, who took over as the department's head three weeks ago.
As head of housing, Kalevor will oversee a department tasked with helping low-income families with rental assistance and financing new affordable housing projects alongside public and private agencies.
Smith started in Washington County on Feb. 5, but left after only a few weeks to return to her previous job as deputy director of Clackamas County's health, housing and human services, where she served for 18 months, according to county spokesman Philip Bransford.
"Komi is a knowledgeable, skilled and well-respected member of our Housing Services Department," said County Administrator Bob Davis. "His depth of experience, familiarity with our initiatives and his support and commitment to our employees will contribute to his success in this new role."
Kalevor is familiar with Washington County's housing programs. He has served as the county's assistant director of housing since 2014, working to develop more low-rent housing and running the county's federal Section 8 voucher program for rental assistance.
Kalevor has previously worked with the city of Portland's housing bureau and the Portland Development Commission.
