Hillsboro police shot and killed Daniel Reynolds, 20, after he came at them with a shotgun.

Hillsboro Police have released the name of the man shot and killed by police outside his home on Saturday night.

Daniel Stacey Reynolds, 20, was shot and killed by police on Saturday, March 10, after he reportedly opened fire on police with a shotgun.

According to Hillsboro Police spokesman Henry Reimann, Sargeant Stephen Beaver and officers Mike Abshier, Justin Hubenette and Michael Piper were called to a domestic disturbance at 2086 S.E. 54th ve., at 11:22 p.m.

As officers approached the house they were met outside by Reynolds, who was armed with a shotgun. Officers shot at Reynolds, who died at the scene.

So far, few details have been released about the altercation between Reynolds and police, by Reimann said Saturday there was an "exchange of gunfire" between Reynolds and four officers. It is unclear how many times Reynolds was shot, or whether all four officers fired their weapons.

No officers were harmed in the shootout.

The four officers have been with the department for varying amounts of time, some for more than two decades.

Beave has worked in Hillsboro for 23 years, Hubenette for 19 years. Abshier joined the department in 2014 and Piper started less than a year ago, Reimann said.

The Washington County Majors Crimes Team, a coalition of police agencies from across the county, is leading the investigation.

More information is expected after the investigation is closed, Reimann said.
