Samuel LundA Hillsboro man is facing felony charges of attempted murder and first-degree assault after being arrested Wednesday, March 14, for a stabbing attack in Cornelius last week.

Samuel Lund, 29, allegedly fled the scene of the stabbing last Friday, March 9, outside Fred Meyer, 2200 E. Baseline St. in Cornelius. At the time, the suspect reportedly eluded law enforcement. But Hillsboro police, acting on a tip, arrested him Wednesday in the 100 block of Southeast 26th Avenue in Hillsboro.

Lund is accused of attempting to kill a 33-year-old man. The stabbing victim, who received what the Washington County Sheriff's Office characterized as "serious but non-life-threatening wounds," and Lund reportedly knew one another prior to the incident.

Lund was booked into the Washington County Jail. In addition to assault and attempted murder charges, he also faces charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and a parole violation, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The person who reported Lund was in a 26th Avenue residence in Hillsboro was prompted to contact police after seeing media coverage of last Friday's stabbing, the Sheriff's Office said.
