Man arrested for vandalizing several Hillsboro businesses
Hillsboro Police have arrested a 62-year-old man after he allegedly smashed several windows in downtown Hillsboro early Monday morning.
Kenneth G. Lindsey faces charges of second-degree burglary, first- and second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree theft after he allegedly broke into a Hillsboro grocery store, then smashed several downtown business storefronts.
Police were called to Grocery Outlet, 354 S. First Ave., in Hillsboro, at about 4:31 a.m., Monday, April 23, to reports of a break in.
Several undisclosed items were stolen from the store, police said, but no suspects were found inside.
In addition to the break-in, 10 businesses in downtown Hillsboro were vandalized with either damaged property or broken windows, police said, including Gen-X Clothing, 346 S. First Ave., Allstate Insurance, 305 S.E. Third Ave., and United Finance, 188 S.E. Fourth Ave.
Police arrested Lindsey behind 76 gas station, 106 S.W. Oak St., shortly after 7 a.m., Monday, after he was reportedly found in possession of property stolen from Grocery Outlet.
Lindsey was lodged in the Washington County Jail.
