Man arrested after fight with girlfriend's ex-boyfriend
Authorities have arrested a man accused to breaking into a Cornelius apartment and threatening his girlfriend former lover with a metal pip.
Alex Gutierrez-Hughitt was arrested Tuesday morning at the Willow Creek Transit Center, 395 S.W. 185th Ave., in Hillsboro, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies have been searching for Gutierrez-Hughitt for days. According to deputies, Gutierrez-Hughitt and his girlfriend went to an apartment in Cornelius on Sunday, May 6, to retrieve a few items the woman had apparently left at an old boyfriend's place.
When the couple arrived, Gutierrez-Hughitt allegedly forced his way into the apartment and hit the boyfriend with a wooden stick. Gutierrez-Hughitt returned to the apartment later that day, deputies said, this time with a three-foot-long metal pipe. Police were called, but Gutierrez-Hughitt was not at the scene when authorities arrived.
He faces charges of first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and criminal mischief.
