Police say a 19-year-old employee at the gas station broke an ankle and received a concussion.

A 23-year-old driver reportedly crashed into a North Plains gas station on Thursday evening, striking an employee.

North Plains Police officers were at Arco gas station, 9560 N.W. Glencoe Road, at about 7:03 p.m., Thursday, July 12, where officers spotted a 1974 F-350 pickup truck turn into the gas station's parking lot at a high rate of speed.

According to the police, the truck nearly struck one of the officers, and did strike an employee who was outside. The vehicle sideswiped into the storefront before coming to a stop.

The employee, a 19-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the man received a concussion, broke an ankle and suffered multiple cuts in the crash.

Police detained the driver, a 23-year-old man, and 20-year-old woman. No charges have been filed.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the vehicle was likely impaired at the time of the crash. Neither the driver's name, nor the extent of the impairment have been released.

The driver reportedly told deputies he knew the brakes of his vehicle were faulty, and that he had neglected replacing them.

Deputies are continuing to investigate and plan to send the case to the Washington County District Attorney's Office for review before pressing charges.

The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team, an inter-agency unit comprised of officers from across the county, are assisting in the investigation.
