More than 60,000 books, CDs, DVDs, videos and LPs go on sale Nov. 1 as the Friends of the Hillsboro Public Library kicks off the 23rd annual autumn book sale at the Main Library. The free event runs through Sunday, Nov. 10, and features fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, reference, large print, audio books and children’s materials. Vinyl lovers are in luck as well, with a large collection of records on sale, especially of classical music.

The sale will be held in the recently expanded Main Library’s second floor event room, which provides three times the space as in previous years.

“We hope to have everything out opening day,” said Friends coordinator Barbara Wright. “This is the most organized book sale. We have an unbelievable collection.”

New this year is the Children’s Room, with over 10,000 items, including many picture books. Part of the proceeds raised from the book sale will pay for an early literacy kiosk for the children’s area of the library. Proceeds will also go to the library capital campaign and be used to buy books for the “Best Seller Collection.”

The sale will run during normal library hours, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday noon to 6 p.m.

The library is located at 2850 N.E. Brookwood Parkway.
