The city of Hillsboro has allotted an estimated $50,000 — about double the current year’s funding — for the Hillsboro Arts and Culture Council to dole out in grants in the next fiscal year.

The city council will consider adoption of the budget on June 17.

“We’re very excited,” said Dave Miletich of the Hillsboro Parks and Recreation Department. “It will give our arts groups more opportunities to compete for additional money.”

This fiscal year, HACC received grants requests totaling $46,700, and will give more than $27,000 out to 11 organizations.
