The Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce is taking applications for its professional development program, Leadership Lake Oswego. Now in its 26th year, the program has identified, motivated and educated more than 300 potential community leaders.

Leadership Lake Oswego is a two-year program designed to help participants develop leadership skills and abilities; create a meaningful opportunity for businesses, organizations and individuals to make connections and build mutually beneficial relationships; develop insightful, civic-oriented leaders who are interested in helping shape the future of Lake Oswego; and gain access and exposure to active leaders on a city, county and state level.

Each month Leadership Lake Oswego includes a classroom session with Lake Oswego School District Superintendent Bill Korach and practicing psychologist and executive leadership coach Marci Nemhauser.

Area leaders and community partners serve as guest speakers covering a variety of perspectives on leadership. During the year, the class takes frequent site visits that provide a behind-the-scenes look at how the community operates.

The first year of the program includes nine full-day sessions. Each class also implements the skills they have developed by adopting a “legacy project” to give back to the community.

The second year of the program involves planning the program for the following year.
