Applications are being accepted for the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lake Oswego program to begin this September. The program is designed to help participants develop leadership skills, build meaningful relationships between individuals and businesses and develop insightful, civic-oriented leaders who can help shape the future of Lake Oswego. It offers an opportunity to learn from community and area leaders who provide perspective on what they have learned about leadership in their particular domains.

The program is a two-year commitment.

The first-year participants attend nine monthly sessions that include education in both an academic and practical setting, exploration of community resources and identification of issues and concerns unique to Lake Oswego.

The second-year participants plan the program for the new class, leading the new students through their own personal and professional growth. Two or three members of the class are selected as overall chairs for the year and graduates help organize and present the monthly programs.

“Since 1986, Leadership Lake Oswego has identified, motivated and educated potential community leaders,” said Kyra Bussanich, owner of Kyra’s Bake Shop and one of three chairs for this fall’s program. “Each class also implements the skills they have developed by adopting a ‘Legacy Project’ to give back to the community. Apply today to be one of the dynamic participants selected to join Leadership Lake Oswego.”

Cost of the program is $675 and payment plans are available. To register or learn more about the program, call the chamber at 503-636-3634. Registration deadline Aug. 31.
