Lake Oswego resident Jane Hein, director, business engineering for Cambia Health Services, has been elected as a board member for Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon (PRO). Her official board title is first vice president.

“I am honored to serve on PRO’s board of directors in order to further Cambia’s community investment and involvement. But I selfishly do so to honor my father-in-law, Paul Hensgen, whom we lost recently to Parkinson’s disease,” Hein said. “The meaningful work PRO provides the Parkinson’s community extended all the way from Oregon to Florida. I was able to apply practical information, services and support for my in-laws during a very difficult time when my father-in-law’s suffering from late-stage Parkinson’s meant that living at home was no longer an option.”

Hein said her in-laws in Florida found it very difficult to find information to help with her father-in-law’s advanced Parkinson’s, so she became a long-distance caregiver.

Thanks to PRO, Hein was given critical information that she shared with her in-laws, including questions to ask, treatment, care and physical therapy options to consider, and assistance with complex financial and medication management coordination. “The quality of PRO’s education materials alone was invaluable,” she said.
