Classical Ballet Academy will present “The Twelve Dancing Princesses” and “The Phantom of the Opera” May 16 through 18 at Lincoln Hall on the Portland State University campus.

Several dancers from Lake Oswego are performing in the program.

Originally a Brothers Grimm tale, “The Twelve Dancing Princesses” tells the story of 12 young princesses who defy their father and dance the night away in the Diamond Forest. The ballet is set to a Saint-Saens’ score and choreographed by CBA Director Sarah Rigles. All the dancers are part of CBA’s pre-professional ballet program.

“The Phantom of the Opera” showcases CBA’s contemporary, modern and jazz program. The central plot revolves around a soprano who becomes the obsession of a mysterious disfigured musical genius. It’s a timeless tale of good and evil, love and tragedy. Artistic Director Anna Rigles brings her imaginative choreography to the show, adding levels of intrigue to mesmerize audiences.

“The Phantom of the Opera” will be presented at 8 p.m. May 16 and 6 p.m. May 18. “The Twelve Dancing Princesses” will be presented at 2 and 6 p.m. May 17 and 2 p.m. May 18.
