A number of adult activities are planned at the Lake Oswego Public Library during September. The events are free of charge, thanks to generous support by the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library.

As part of the First Tuesday Music series the OCP Quartet will play from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this Tuesday. The group was formed by members of the Oregon Chamber Players in 2002, out of necessity to meet the countless requests from people wanting a string quartet to play at concerts, weddings and other special events.

Lake Oswego author Brian Doyle will speak on his latest novel “The Plover” at 7 p.m. Sept. 9. Doyle’s Oregon-based novel “Mink River” was the Lake Oswego Reads selection for 2012. He is the editor of Portland Magazine at the University of Portland.

Guitarist Ricardo Cardenas will be the featured musician in the Performing Arts Series at 1 p.m. Sept. 10. Cardenas performs classical and folkloric music from Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile. He was born in Chile and began studying traditional Latin American music and classical guitar with Fernando Bargetto, then later continued his studies at the university in his country.

A new tech discussion group will meet the second Friday of each month; the first meeting will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12. All those interested in discussing technology related topics are encouraged to attend. The group will be facilitated by librarian Fawn McGee. Call her at 503-675-3995 for more information.

Learn the Seven Habits of Highly Happy People from Louise Lague at 7 p.m. Sept. 23. Lague is a mental health counselor and will present information about the aspects of happiness from the literature of positive psychology.
