Adult and youth contests are being held to create posters for upcoming attraction

Jamie Inglis, event specialist for the city of Lake Oswego, has issued a plea for submissions of art to be used for this year’s poster promoting the Lake Oswego Farmers’ Market.

“We need your creativity and artistic talent to help promote this popular community event,” she said in a news release. “Any medium is welcome.”

There are separate adult and youth competitions.

Those 18 and older may submit a promotional poster depicting the farmers’ market. Submissions must be 8.5 by 11 inches and must include: 2013 Lake Oswego Farmers’ Market, Saturdays, May 18 through Oct. 12, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Submissions also must include a contact name and phone number legibly recorded on the back of the entry.

The youth competition is to create a poster promoting the Lake Oswego Farmers’ Market Doggy Daycare program. Posters can depict any aspect of the program — a favorite dog, unique pooch, etc. Posters must be 8.5 by 11 inches, including: Lake Oswego Farmers’ Market Doggy Daycare and have the artist’s name, phone number and age on the reverse side of the submission.

Entries for either competition are due Feb. 6 and should be delivered to the Parks and Recreation Department at the West End Building, 4101 Kruse Way. The submissions will be displayed at the WEB from Feb. 11 through March 1. The public is invited to stop by, view and vote for their favorite in each category. There will be one adult and one youth winner. Winners will be notified by March 8.
