Adelle Jenike is listed in fair condition at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center today.

Unfortunately, readers of the Lake Oswego Review paper version today (not the online edition) read a death notice for Jenike, a longtime Lake Oswego businesswoman, that was obviously completely inaccurate.

An email sent to Lake Oswego Rotarians along with information passed on to the newspaper from members of the community Wednesday indicated that Jenike had died following complications from surgery. The Review contacted several of Jenike's associates who expressed their sorrow and shared their thoughts.

Late morning today, those same Rotarians received the following email from Malcolm Mathes:

"As Mark Twain said, 'the report of my death was an exaggeration,' so too is the announcement of Adele Jenike’s passing. ... Adelle has made a turn for the good and is in ICU at Meridian (Park) Hospital. We all knew Adele was a fighter. Adelle is able to talk and her first request was for a glass of water. The family plans on moving her to a nursing home within the next day or two. Adelle’s daughter, Betsy Jenike, said she would call ... with any updates which we will pass on. Please continue to keep Adele and her family in your thoughts and prayers."

The Review very much regrets this error and apologizes to the Jenike family.
