Stephen Dow Beckham, recently retired Pamplin professor of history professor from Lewis & Clark College, will present a lecture titled “Changes in the Land: The Transformation of Oregon, 1800 to 2013” at the First Wednesday presentation for the Oswego Heritage Council on Wednesday.

Beckham is a Lake Oswego resident.

The presentation will cover impacts on the historic landscape across Oregon from the suppression of Indian fire ecology to the fur trade, mining, logging, farming, construction of hydroelectric facilities, jetty and harbor projects, highways and urbanization.

The program begins at 7 p.m., refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is at the Heritage House at the corner of 10th and Chandler streets.
