Fowlks was selected from a number of county nominees based on his outstanding service to the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center’s Meals on Wheels program.

“For the past seven years John Fowlks has been an invaluable asset to the center’s nutrition program,” said Berta Derman, LOACC human services supervisor. “He is truly a jack-of-all-trades who loves what he does. Twice a week he works tirelessly prepping, baking and dishing up noon meals to be served to center diners or packaged for Meals on Wheels clients.”

Derman noted that Fowlks’s efforts for the meals program even extend to fundraising. He recently was able to obtain a sizeable donation from his church, Christ Church Episcopal of Lake Oswego.

Ann Adrian, ACC manager, praised Fowlks for his role in the production of more than 100 meals that are delivered three days a week plus 30 to 40 in-house diners. He has hardly missed a day of service since 2006. Fowlks’s business career was in the food industry, and his pulled pork recipe is a big favorite with ACC diners.
