Presentation planned by Father Francis Chun, a retired Portland priest who converted from Buddhism

“Living the Eucharist in the Light of Faith” will be held at Lake Oswego’s Our Lady of the Lake Church in September.

The series will be presented by Father Francis Chun, retired Portland archdiocese priest, who will focus on developing a deeper understanding of the Eucharist.

A convert from Buddhism, Father Chun taught theology at Chaminade University in Honolulu for five years and in high school for 26 years. He holds his licentiate in sacred theology from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. In addition, Father Chun has taught meditation and stress management for 25 years.

The event will begin with a Vigil Mass on Sept. 21 and will include Masses on Sept. 22. The emphasis will be on educating parishioners, family and friends on how to understand the Eucharist.

A three-day mission will be held Sept. 23-25, featuring three interactive discussions from 7 to 9 p.m. each evening in the church. Topics will include discussion of God’s love and gifts, and the sacrifice of the Mass. This session is recommended for non-Catholic families and friends.

The series is presented by the A Gift Ministry at Our Lady of the Lake Parish. It is open to all. A $20 donation is suggested for the series. Refreshments will be available in the parish hall following the evening discussions.
