Cross-river rivalry between high school football teams in Clackamas and Lake Oswego heated up this week with lawmakers making a $100 bet over the game’s outcome.

State Reps. Shemia Fagan (D-East Portland/Clackamas) and Chris Garrett (D-Lake Oswego) decided on the “little friendly” gamble, using personal money, when they found out that they’re both fans of hometown teams.

Planning to attend the game at Clackamas on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m., Fagan hopes to donate her winnings to Clackamas Women’s Services and North Clackamas School District programs for low-income students.

“We thought it’ll be fun to have a little skin in the game to support these hardworking kids,” she said.
