Hosted by First Addition/Forest Hills Neighborhood Association

An ambitious urban renewal project is coming down the pipe, and the First Addition/Forest Hills Neighborhood Association invites you to join in the discussion.

Friday evening, the group will host its annual meeting and will allow both residents and business property owners to discuss “hopes and concerns” regarding what association officials say is likely to be the next large downtown development.

In May 2011, the Lake Oswego Redevelopment Agency board directed city staff to begin property acquisition and planning for the parcel on the north side of B Avenue and First Street. So far, the city has acquired properties at 500 First St., 525 First St. and 39 through 41 B Ave.

Initial plans for the area were mixed-use, with new library facilities as the central focus. However, Lake Oswego voters rejected a $14 million library bond measure in November 2012, forcing the city to redline the library component of the development.

The neighborhood association’s agenda includes a brief presentation of North Anchor property boundaries, information on building codes and the city’s financial investment, as well as a general discussion about the project.

The North Anchors properties discussion will be held at the Masonic Lodge, 417 2nd St. For more information, contact Maria Meneghin at 503-699-9857.
