Matthew Christopher LeonardLake Oswego Police found the body of Matthew Christopher Leonard, a 54-year-old Lake Oswego man who had been missing for more than a week, in a heavily wooded area behind a residence on Westview Drive late Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators said the death does not appear to have been suspicious.

Leonard had last been seen around 10 p.m. July 15 at his home in the 2000 block of Dellwood Drive in Lake Oswego. He reportedly was upset about the death of his mother three weeks ago and had an argument with his father on the night that he disappeared.

Leonard had left without his wallet, did not have a cell phone and did not take his black Trek bicycle, which he routinely rode on the South Shore Boulevard path from his residence to the Lake Oswego Library or nearby grocery stores.

On Wednesday, Leonard’s family thanked the public for tips provided during the search, but asked for privacy "during this difficult time."
