LOFD Assistant Chief David Morris said crews were called to the site near the Willamette River around 5 p.m. and quickly extinguished the blaze, which was likely human-caused but not intentionally set. No structures were threatened, Morris said, and no injuries were reported.

"My message to folks is that with the hot, dry weather and temperatures expected to be over 100 degrees next week, please be careful with any open flames," Morris said, "and do not discard cigarette butts onto the ground."
