FRIDAY'S TOP FIVE

Drew Carter, Malcolm Stockdale lead No. 4 Tigard past Oregon City, 62-27

The Tigard Tigers had another one of those nights when almost everything that could go their way on the football field, did go their way Friday night.

This time, the Oregon City Pioneers were on the receiving end.

Tigard quarterback Drew Carter passed for 276 yards and four touchdowns and running back Malcolm Stockdale rushed for 257 yards and three scores, pacing the No. 4-ranked Tigers to a 62-27 home win Friday over the Pioneers at Robert A. Gray Stadium.

Lake Oswego powers past West Linn 41-28 in battle of TRL heavyweights

The West Linn football team may have struck first on Friday, but Lake Oswego struck back — and struck back hard — the rest of the night.

The Lakers, after falling behind by a touchdown early on, ripped off four unanswered TDs and used that fast start to fuel their 41-28 win at Lake Oswego High School.

Wilsonville outscores Scappoose in dreary game

It wasn't pretty at times, but the Wildcats got it done. After 48 mud-stained, rain-soaked minutes, Wilsonville maintained its unbeaten streak in impressive fashion. Scappoose fell at the end of the night 41-20 Friday, October 5.

Sherwood triumphs in Pacific Conference debut

It was a night of firsts for the Sherwood High School football team.

The Bowmen were playing their very first Pacific Conference game, and they were also playing McMinnville for the very first time.

Well, thanks to a determined effort — not to mention a powerhouse running attack and a clutch, opportunistic defense — Sherwood's night of firsts included a big, initial league victory.

Sherwood, in its first Pacific Conference contest, got off to a roaring start, and then fought off a furious McMinnville rally attempt to get a 38-27 win over the Grizzlies in a conference opener played Friday under rainy skies at McMinnville High School.

Gladstone edges Crook County 14-6, remains undefeated in Special Distrct 2 football

The Gladstone Gladiators rolled into Prineville Friday night and found a way to win, escaping with a 14-6 victory over the Crook County Cowboys.
