by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Dick and Rita Krebs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family at Black Butte Ranch on Aug. 25, the day they were married.

The couple was married in 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prineville.

Rita grew up in Powell Butte and Dick in Madras. Dick graduated from Willamette University and received his master’s degree from Stanford University. Rita graduated from Western Oregon (formerly the Oregon College of Education).

The couple moved away from Oregon early in their marriage to California, then to Virginia, back to California and then to Texas for a short time. They eventually came home to Oregon and have lived in Lake Oswego for the past 34 years.

Dick worked for Shell Oil and Northwest Natural Gas his entire career, while Rita taught grade school in Virginia, California and Oregon.

They have two sons, Jeff and Matt, and three grandchildren, Grayson, Kellen and Karsten.

In their retirement, they enjoy spending time with family and friends, attending their grandchildren’s sporting events, vacationing and exploring the world.

The family tradition revolves around sports. Every March, the family travels to Scottsdale, Ariz., to follow the San Francisco Giants during spring training.
