The West Linn Parks and Recreation Department offers classes to calm you down and rev you up. Here is a sampling of the types of classes you can find online at

Sachi Wellness Center brings us Meditation Introduction. Learn about the five main types of meditation in this non-religious, down-to-earth class. You will learn what meditation is and isn’t, how to start a home practice and different breathing and meditation techniques to help you reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve sleep and increase feelings of calm and well-being.

Experience for yourself how just a few minutes of meditation each day will help you achieve your health, wellness and happiness goals. Class fee is $45.

.Kidz Love Soccer classes start Sept. 21. Age-based programs start at 2 years old and go up through age 10. Since 1979, Kidz Love Soccer has been dedicated to teaching children the world’s most popular sport within a nurturing, recreational environment. A typical session experience includes age-appropriate activities: skill demonstrations, fun games and instructional scrimmages. Young soccer enthusiasts experience soccer fun in a safe, noncompetitive environment. Class fees range from $53 to $68.

Mini Hoopers Basketball registration is now open. Don’t miss this opportunity for your first-, second- or third-grader to play in this recreational basketball program during the months of November and December. (Third-graders will play through February.) Register at the parks and recreation office or download the forms from the website.

Middle School Basketball registration is also open. All interested players in sixth through eighth grades who live in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District boundary are welcome to participate. This is a positive environment that provides the basic skills needed to play basketball. The recreation basketball season is November through February. Practices are held midweek with games on Saturdays (possibly midweek). All practices will be at local schools while games will be home and away with other communities. Registration fee is $100 and registration deadline is Oct. 11
