U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader will speak to the Willamette Women Democrats on Oct. 16 at Oswego Lake Country Club from 4 to 6 p.m. on “Congress Returns - Challenges, Opportunities and Decisions.”

He will give an overview of the congressional session featuring the latest information on passing the budget and threats to defund the Affordable Health Care Act, aspects of the Farm Bill, the debt ceiling and the situation in Syria.

The public is invited to attend the event. Cost is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Light refreshments will be served.

Schrader is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Formerly a veterinarian and a farmer in Clackamas County, he serves on the House agriculture committee, the House small-business committee and the House budget committee and its subcommittees on health and technology and on agriculture, energy and trade.
