by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Five West Linn parks have spray grounds to keep you cool during summers hot weather. They will be turned on Memorial Day weekend.

Known as spray grounds, spray pads or spray parks, West Linn residents are fortunate to have five water playgrounds to help beat the summer heat.

Operated through West Linn Parks and Recreation, in compliance with Oregon Administrative Rules, spray grounds are fun, free and accessible. These water features replaced the old wading pools that did not have recirculating water. Current health standards require these water features to be monitored by certified operators, checking the pH levels each day and chlorine levels every four hours. Filters are changed and cleaned on a daily basis.

You can find these popular amenities located at these West Linn Parks:

Hammerle Park, 1505 Lewis St.

Marylhurst Heights Park, 1800 Valley View Drive

Robinwood Park, 3600 Fairview Way

Tanner Creek Park, 3456 Parker Road

Willamette Park, 1100 12th St.

Typical dates for operation begin Memorial Day weekend and extend through Labor Day. There are exceptions due to weather, park events and staff levels. All are programmed to operate during the hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. You are welcome to contact the Parks and Recreation office at 503-557-4700 to get more information on spray parks.
