The staff at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center knows that falling down for anyone can lead to serious injury, from a broken bone to brain damage.

As we get older, the risk for falling increases and the injuries can take longer to heal. The center is offering a seven-week workshop called “Stepping On” where you will learn exercises and strategies to help prevent falls.

Topics include how to eliminate hazards at home, the best shoes to wear, medications that increase your risk, how your vision keeps you balanced and balance and strength training.

This workshop will be taught by Jaqueline Sinke, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 16 through Oct. 28. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11.
