Health Republic invites public to nominate board directors

Health Republic Insurance, a nonprofit health insurance provider, has announced that nominations are open for two seats on the company’s Board of Directors. While only members of the plan can vote, anyone can nominate or be nominated.

One seat is reserved for a person currently insured by Health Republic and one seat is reserved for someone not insured by the company. Nominations close Sept. 5 and the election will take place at Health Republic’s first annual meeting in late October.

Health Republic is a chartered 501(c)(29) nonprofit, known as a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) and by law must have members choose the majority of its board. The requirement is meant to ensure that member interests drive the company.

“One of the great advantages our members enjoy over traditional health insurance companies is that they have a say in how we do business,” Dawn Bonder, president and CEO of Health Republic, said. “We are very excited to see who steps up to become involved and to find out who our members want in leadership roles.”

All Health Republic board nominees must be 21 years old by Oct. 1 and Oregon residents. For additional nominee qualifications, visit
