Emma Kingsberg will present a series of lectures on blending natural foods for health benefits at the LOACC.

SUBMITTED PHOTO - Emma Kingsberg, who has a Master of Science in clinical nutrition, will lead a series of three classes on the benefits of Nutri-Blending at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, beginning June 16.

We at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center like to keep up on the latest trends, and one of the hottest that has caught our attention is blending — the blending of a variety of fruits, vegetables and other nutrients to create a drink meant to target different aspects of health.

Another hot topic is natural medicine, finding ways to heal ourselves without chemicals and side effects.

The National College of Natural Medicine created the Age Wise Institute to promote health through education, hands-on classes and lecture series. And the fine people at the Age Wise Institute put together a three-part series that combines blending foods to heal or treat yourself through natural foods.

The first class is titled "Blending Your Way to Balanced Brain Health." It includes simple blending recipes that help eliminate brain fog, fatigue and anxiety.

The second class, "Sweeten up Your Life with Healthy Desserts," is all about balancing blood sugar, which is good for everyone, particularly those with diabetes.

The final class in the series focuses on our largest organ, the skin. In "Nourishing the Skin from the Inside Out" you will learn about blending foods that will protect your skin and give your complexion a glow.

The instructor is Emma Kingsberg, Master of Science in clinical nutrition. Kingsberg has a wealth of knowledge and is excited to share the health benefits of blending. This whole series is offered at the incredible rate of $5. The classes will be offered from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on consecutive Fridays, June 16, 23 and 30 at the center. Call the ACC to sign up today.

The lunch menu this week features chicken gyros on Friday, May 19. The Comfort Food Monday entrée for May 22 is shepherd's pie; and a fish bowl (imagine that!) will be served on Wednesday, May 24. Cost is a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and older and $5 for everyone else.

The LOACC is located at 505 G Ave., Lake Oswego. A list of activities and support groups can be found on our website,, under the Calendar banner. Click on "View the Adult Community Center Calendar" and then the activity for more details. Call 503-635-3758 to register for classes, events, make lunch reservations or schedule a massage.
