Priest to share Mass, photos of Camino de Santiago
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish will present Fr. Jeff Eirvin, director of vocations for the Archdiocese of Portland, to lead a Vocational Mass at 7 p.m. Aug. 16, followed by a presentation of his recent walk of the Camino de Santiago to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain with his father, Jeff Eirvin Sr.
The father and son walked nearly 150 miles in Portugal and Spain over 10 days in July, praying for an increase in vocations to priesthood and religious life. The senior Eirvin is vocations officer for the Serra Club of Portland, which has a mission to foster and affirm vocations to the ministerial priesthood and vowed religious life in the United States, and through this ministry, further the Catholic faith.
The Camino de Santiago is the name of any pilgrimage routes, known as pilgrim ways, to the shrine of the Apostle St. James in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in Northwest Spain, where St. James' remains are believed to be buried. It is considered one of the world's foremost Christian pilgrimage sites, and allows those walking the routes a way to enhance their spiritual growth.
The public is invited to attend the Mass and inspirational presentation. The Mass will take place in the church sanctuary, and the presentation will occur in the hall below. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish is located at 650 A Ave. in Lake Oswego. Learn more by calling 503-636-7687.
