Sessions are planned for beginning and intermediate painters

Art is for everybody. That's why the Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Department offers adult art classes, such as beginning and intermediate watercolor.

The beginning watercolor class explores watercolor painting, including information on materials, techniques and a bit of art history. The instructor will contact students prior to the start of class to discuss required supplies and where to purchase. For ages 18+; 1-3 p.m. on Thursdays, May 3-June 21, at the Adult Community Center (505 G Ave.); $95.

The intermediate watercolor class is for those with some watercolor experience who wish to continue their growth as an artist. The instructor will contact students prior to the first class to discuss supplies. For ages 18+; 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursdays, May 10-June 21, at the Adult Community Center (505 G Ave.); $83.

Stewardship Opportunities

Join the Mulch Bucket Brigade (Saturday, May 5, from 9 a.m.-noon) — Join the final work party of the season to mulch hundreds of native trees and shrubs to ensure the highest level of plant survival in Oregon's dry summer. New! Ultimate Frisbee League — This short summer-season league offers great fun and exercise. Registration is now open for ages 18+. Play will take place from 6-10 p.m. on Fridays, June 22-July 20, at Hazelia Field (17800 Stafford Road). For more information, visit

Adult and High School Coed 7-on-7 Summer Soccer Leagues — For ages 18+. Register for the high school division, open division for ages 18 + or over-35 division. Games will be played Sunday afternoons and evenings in Lake Oswego. For more information, visit


Boomer's Boot Camp (Try It for Free class) — This class is for all levels of fitness. Increase your heart rate, improve your health and strength safely, effectively and comfortably. It makes getting fit fun. For ages 18+; 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5; Adult Community Center (505 G Ave.); free.

Boomer's Beat (Try It for Free class) — Use drumsticks and rhythm to raise your heart rate and improve balance in this high-energy, cardio exercise class. No experience needed to join this fun class that drums your way to fitness. For ages 18+; 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3; Adult Community Center (505 G Ave.); free.

Gentle Yoga — Perfect for beginners and continuing students who want to refine their poses, with an emphasis on strength and flexibility. Class moves to the Adult Community Center for the second summer term. For ages 18+; 1:15-2:15 p.m. on Mondays, April 30-May 21; Palisades (1500 Greentree Road); $29
