Police are still searching for Michael Paul Scoggins, 36, after he eluded arrest

Police are searching for a man in the Molalla area who crashed his vehicle while eluding arrest, and then fled on foot.

Molalla Police Chief Rod Lucich said Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies attempted a traffic stop near Dryland Road at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, but the driver, who has outstanding warrants, sped away towards Molalla.

During the county pursuit, the subject’s Toyota 4-Runner crashed at Ona Way and Molalla Forest Road in Molalla. The driver fled on foot, but Molalla Police found the wrecked vehicle at 11:43 p.m. and arrested his female passenger on drug-related charges.

The suspect still at large is Michael Paul Scoggins, 36. He is described as 6-foot 2-inches, weighing 250 pounds with numerous tattoos.

At 5 p.m. Tuesday, the man was still at large.

“This person is still not in custody, but at this time we don’t know if he is still in the area,” Lucich said.

During the search Tuesday, Molalla Police were informed of a man seen trying to steal a bicycle on North Molalla Avenue. Lucich said it is not known for sure if that man was Scoggins, but he was described as wearing a gray hoodie with a big red H on the chest.
