Molalla Fire District officials respond to brush fire off Dickey Prairie Road Tuesday
Fire officials from the Molalla Fire District as well as the Oregon Department of Forestry responded to a small brush fire off Dickey Prairie Road just before Glen Avon Tuesday afternoon.
Around 1:55 p.m., officials made their way towards the
Molalla River Corridor after the driver of a dump truck called in flames on the side of the road.
MFD chief Vince Stafford said the fire burned about one-half of an acre of scotch broom and blackberry bushes, which can ignite fairly easily when they dry out.
Stafford said they have't determined a cause for the fire yet.
There was no damage to nearby property, and there were no injuries to cattle or people in the area.
Stafford said the fire at its highest point had flames eight to ten feet high, but they were able to bring it under control in about 20 minutes. The eastbound lane of Dickey Prairie Road was still blocked by fire vehicles at 3:30 p.m.
