The new fast food franchise will be built in the corner of the Molalla Market Center

PIONEER PHOTO: KRISTEN WOHLERS - Crews have begun grading the location where a Taco Bell will be built on the corner of Highways 211 and 213.

A Taco Bell franchise will go up in the Molalla Market Center at the corner of Highways 211 and 213.

"We got the application over the summer, so we've been working with them to get through the process and get them going," said Community Planner Aldo Rodriguez.

The franchise group Pacific Bells, owned by Tom Cook and Dennis January, is responsible for the new restaurant. January opened his first Taco Bell franchise in Tualatin in 1989. The company now owns 210 restaurants in eight states.

Make that 211.

The project was approved, and Rodriguez estimates that it may take one to three months to complete.

A shell of a building is yet to be seen, but in the last week, crews have begun grading the location, which was established for a fast food building when the market center was originally built.

Rodriguez said that he looks forward to "another option for people to choose" in Molalla.
