Colton Corner: Fire District holds annual awards banquet
The board of directors of Colton Rural Fire District #70 hosted their annual awards and recognition banquet at the Legend in Molalla earlier this month to honor its volunteer firefighters.
During the event several members of the volunteer fire department and community were given awards. Fire Chief Richard Beaudoin said the awards were voted on by the membership of the Colton Fire District.
This year's Firefighter of the Year award went to Lieutenant Doug Dolney; Top Responder of the Year was earned by Frank Kaneaster; Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) of the Year was a three-way win for EMT-I Brad Khun, Firefighter/EMT-I Matt Silvers and Firefighter/EMT-1A Casey Norlin; Rookies of the Year went to Firefighter Josh Steer, Firefighter Jesse Miller, Apparatus Operator Lonnie Quinn and Honorary Lifetime Firefighter Cindy Fama.
Family and friends of the volunteer fire department personnel were invited to enjoy the night. The board and Beaudoin highlighted how much time is donated to the Colton community, not just by the department, but by the families of the volunteers. It doesn't matter what time of the day or night when they get the call, the Colton responders head out to serve the community in emergency situations.
