For the next three weeks, expect closures on Hess, Canal and Mill streets as a paving project gets underway at the Madras Industrial Site.

According to Jeff Hurd, Madras Public Works Department director, crews were scheduled to start pulverizing and paving on Mill Street this week.

"Once they get done with that, they'll jump over to the other two," he said. "One-way traffic will be provided. People will be able to get through."

The paving and road repair is part of a $331,000 project primarily funded through Oregon Department of Transportation grants. The contractor, 7 Peaks Paving, of Bend, was originally planning to start the project in March, but weather permitting, will start this week.

The project will be completed by the end of June.
