Seizes 30 pounds of marijuana

by: SUBMITTED - Daniel VagleA traffic stop on U.S. Highway 97 last week led to the arrest of a Minnesota man on drug charges for possession of a large quantity of marijuana.

On Monday, Oregon State Police released information about the incident, which occurred on March 19, around 1:10 p.m., on Highway 97, about 15 miles north of Madras. A trooper stopped Daniel R. Vagle, 31, of Big Lake, Minn., for a traffic violation near milepost 75.

With the assistance of an OSP drug detection dog, a search of Vagle's northbound vehicle, a 2008 Chrysler Sebring, led to the seizure of approximately 31 pounds of marijuana. The value of the marijuana, located in a large duffel bag in the car's trunk, was estimated at $75,000.

He was arrested for unlawful delivery and possession of a controlled substance and lodged in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
