A Warm Springs man was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle following a high-speed chase.

A Warm Springs man, Edward Francis Jones, 24, was arrested early July 5, following a high-speed chase.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Adkins, law enforcement officials spotted a stolen motorcycle in Madras around 5:45 a.m, and attempted a traffic stop.

SUBMITTED PHOTO - Edward Francis JonesThe Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported that Jones attempted to flee, leading police on a five-mile pursuit that reached speeds of nearly 100 mph. He lost control of the motorcycle on Northeast Henderson Road, near Loucks Road, crashing in the road.

Jones attempted to flee on foot but was detained. After being checked out by Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services, he was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facililty by the Madras Police Department.

Jones has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude, reckless driving, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and first-degree criminal mischief. Security was set at $25,000.SUBMITTED PHOTO - Edward Francis Jones
