Madras police are seeking information on an assault involving a knife on Dec. 30, in a parking lot.

An assault involving a knife was reported to the Madras Police Department on Dec. 30.

According to a press release, at 2 a.m., on Dec. 30, officers responded to an assault in a parking lot on D Street, near Fourth Street.

Upon arrival, officers located numerous people, one of whom had what is believed to be a knife wound across his upper body.

The victim was taken by Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services to St. Charles Madras for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement is in the process of contacting and interviewing witnesses and has determined there is no danger to the community.

It is an active investigation and no names or other information is being released at this time. Both the Oregon State Police and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office assisted Madras police with the investigation.
