The Imperial Stock Ranch near Shaniko recently learned that its yarn is being used to make sweaters for American athletes in the Winter Olympics.

“About 15 months ago, we received a call from a product developer at Ralph Lauren, an iconic American brand and a long-time sponsor of the U.S. Olympic team. A design team visited Imperial Stock Ranch within the month, and by December, the company placed an order for Imperial Yarn. The designers were using the yarn to make sweaters for Team USA to wear in the Parade of Nations at the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics,” said Jeanne Carver, who owns the ranch with her husband Dan.

Ralph Lauren has also created an video about their made-in-America journey, in which the Imperial Stock Ranch is featured.

Ralph Lauren called on more than 40 made-in-America partners to create its collection for Team USA for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.  Imperial Stock Ranch and Imperial Yarn is one small story in the making of the Team USA Olympic uniforms.

“We are immensely grateful that Ralph Lauren recognizes the importance of investing in and supporting the American wool industry and American manufacturing. And of course, we're very honored to have been included in their efforts.  The future for all of us is brighter thanks to Ralph Lauren’s partnership and leadership.  It's truly a win for all of us.  We look forward to the winter games, and supporting the athletes who will wear the Team USA uniforms and carry our flag in the most prestigious sporting event in the world,” the Carvers said in a released statement.
