Enforcement is targeting intoxicated driving, seat belt, and cell phone infractions.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is joining the State of Oregon in a high visibility enforcement blitz through Sept. 3, dedicated to intoxicated driving, seat belt, cell phone, and traffic safety enforcement.

The sheriff's office will provide regular and overtime traffic enforcement to reduce the number of DUII crashes, seatbelt and cellphone related traffic incidents during this time.

The enforcement is funded by overtime funds through the Oregon Department of Transportation.

In 2015, 10,265 people were killed in drunk-driving-related car crashes, accounting for nearly one-third of all traffic fatalities.
